What is Syslog?
Syslog is a standard protocol for storing logs in UNIX servers and Linux servers. It
enables the collection and centralized management of logs from multiple devices
over a network. Generally, the logs for access points, routers, and switches are
temporarily stored in the memory of the device itself. However, because the size
of this memory is limited, logs are gradually deleted starting from the oldest ones.
BN-ADT/NAS can be used as a Syslog server for saving device logs to a computer
hard drive or other location. Because of the large size of typical computer hard
drives, this enables you to save logs for extended periods of time.

Note:
Because the Syslog server is automatically started as a service, BN-ADT/NAS does
not need to be running and you do not need to be logged into Windows.
